In the media you often hear that "air source heat pumps" are a means to save energy, is that true?

Yes an air source heat pump (ASHP) can save you money on your fuel bills however, a disadvantage to be aware of is that air source heat pumps have a lower heat supply than a typical central heating system. This means to get the most out of your ASHP, you need to have a well-insulated home and, ideally, underfloor heating as your existing radiators will probably be inadequate too. Also, another common problem with air source heat pumps is that they can be noisy. Therefore, it is important that you have your home fully surveyed before considering this as an option.
